1981 - Lilith’s Cuban family is revealed, highlighting the dynamic before and after Flora’s death. Lilith (10) and her family deal with the loss of Flora and head to her funeral at Rosehill Cemetery. Where Emory (15) and his father, Callum, lead detective on The Ripper Crew case,
join the family from afar at the cemetery.

1999 - Emory (35) prepares for his first art installation, a marionette stage featuring The Punch & Judy Show. Where Emory’s first victim’s teeth are inserted into Judy’s mouth. Emory displays the small stage in the middle of Grant Park, to be discovered by the people of Chicago.
EPISODE04 FAMILY IS EVERYTHING

1999 – Callum is brought onto The Punch & Judy case, that’s leaving Chicago’s residents on edge. Emory and Lilith’s relationship grows more serious. She decides to bring him to her brother’s graduation party where people from their pasts begin to overlap, causing Lilith’s father, Jesus, to worry about his daughter’s inability to let go of the past and move on from Flora’s death.

1981 – Flora works in her studio, in the basement of the family home, seeing the comparison between mother and daughter and the artists they’ve become. We experience the events leading up to The Ripper Crew abducting Flora.
EPISODE01 FIGURE WITH MEAT

1999 – Emory Bradford (35) introduces himself to Lilith De Leon (30) and invites her to his art show later that evening. Lilith agrees before heading home to get ready. Today, March 17th, 1999, is the last day the death penalty will be used in IL. Andrew Kokoraleis, the man receiving the death penalty, is a member of The Ripper Crew, responsible for Lilith’s mother, Flora’s murder back in 1981. A dense fog has settled over the city of Chicago, a foreshadowing of what’s to come.

EPISODE06 STRINGS ATTACHED

1999 – Lilith’s show “The Muses” cements her talent in the art community. Emory and Lilith become more intimate, sleeping with one another at his studio, after her show. He tells her about Flora and the moments leading up to her mother’s death and after, when he ran home, abandoning Flora’s body on the tracks.
​
1981 – Emory (15) sits in front of the oak tree in the Bradford’s backyard, covered in Flora’s blood. Callum and Minerva rush to his side, where Emory remains catatonic from the events. Callum rages at his son for getting involved in the case, screaming “what have you done!” over and over.
EPISODE03 THE BRADFORD LEGACY

1981 – Emory (15) and Callum spend “quality” time in Callum’s office going over all the information about The Ripper Crew and their victims. Emory learns the meaning of a “true kill” and the ever-evolving structure of predatory and prey.

1999 – Emory introduces Lilith to his entire family at a large dinner for The Bradfords (his father’s side) and The Harpys (his mother’s side). We meet Aunt Melody, Minerva’s (Emory’s Mom) sister and her son Rook (Emory’s cousin).
EPISODE05 WOMAN UNDER THE L

1999 – Lilith preps for her first art show at Dante’s Gallery. An installation based on the history of muses and their sacrifices.
​
1981 – Emory’s (15) obsession with The Ripper Crew grows. Even after his father threatened him to let it go. Emory’s tipped off by an old cop radio he took from his father, mentioning a red van (the Ripper Crew’s van). He follows it to the train tracks, where the crew flings Flora’s body from the van onto the tracks. Emory attempts to help but can’t do anything as Flora bleeds out in his arms.

EPISODE01 RABBIT, RABBIT, RABBIT!
1999 – Lilith hunches on the ground over a dismembered white rabbit, sketches of it lay scattered around her. Lilith picks up a sketch from 1986 marked “For Joy” in the top corner of the drawing. Emory, at his studio preps for his next art installation. It’s been six months since the Punch & Judy Show.

1986 – Lilith (15) meets with Joy (therapist) for the first time after Jesus grows worried about his daughter’s violent tendencies.
EPISODE03 HOUSE OF GOD
1999 – Emory sets up his second art installation inside the abandoned church at Rosehill Cemetery. Stringing up mirrors, lights, and a large altar in the center of the church. Emory’s perception is warped, fighting with the victims of his past as he finishes the installation.

1964 – Melody and Beauregard, now married and pregnant with Rook live at Harpy Hall. Melody’s pregnancy is delicate, causing her to remain on bed rest for months. She is forced to stay in the sunroom on Harpy Hall’s grounds, where her mind deteriorates from isolation.
EPISODE05 WHERE ART GOES TO DIE
1999 – Callum and his team are called to Rosehill to search the crime scene at the church. Callum knows this killer and the Punch & Judy murders are one in the same. Later, Lilith
attempts to search the crimes scene but is caught by Callum and brought home, revealing that Callum and Jesus have known one another for a long time.
1964 – Melody must fight for her and Rook’s survival. She murders Beauregard and buries him in the backyard at Harpy Hall, beneath the sunflowers that bloom every June.

EPISODE02 HARPY HALL
1999 - The Bradford’s (Lilith included) are invited to Harpy Hall in Lake Geneva for an annual gala. Lilith is formally introduced to society by The Bradfords, mirroring the events of the past. When Melody Harpy (Minerva’s sister) was brought out as well.
​
1964 – Melody meets Beauregard, Callum’s cousin at Harpy Hall. Romance blooms. Callum and Minerva are married and pregnant with Emory. The dynamic of the Harpy’s and the Bradford’s is revealed, showcasing their prestige and power over Chicago.
EPISODE04 FALLOUT
1999 – Lilith clashes with her family about Emory and Bradford’s entanglement with Flora’s death. They fear she will never move on, and Emory's being in her life only magnifies the issue. Emory finishes his installation at the church, and his next victim's head (Joy’s Head) is the
centerpiece of the exhibit.

1964 – Melody births Rook. After, she starts sculpting again, but Beauregard’s need for control only worsens, turning physical, causing Melody to flee from Harpy Hall to Bradford Manor in hopes of finding sanctuary with her sister and brother-in-law. Melody is turned away by Minerva and told to return home to her husband.
EPISODE06 THE PRINCE OF THE CITY
1999 – When Lilith discovers items from Emory’s victims in his studio, she writes him a note, revealing that she knows who truly lurks behind the mask he wears. Lilith goes back to the church, and this time gets inside unnoticed. Lilith recognizes the second victims head as Joy, her long-time friend and therapist.

EPISODE04 FOR ZELDA

1999 – Callum confronts Emory pleading with him to flee before it gets worse, and he can no longer protect his son.
1981 – Lilith's (15) first piece, White Rabbit, is displayed at the Youth Art Show. She and her entire family, including Joy are there to celebrate. Unknown to Lilith at the time, Emory (20) attended the show against his father’s wishes. Callum tries to remove his son from the event, thus causing a scene, and forcing Jesus to get involved upon his daughter’s sake.
1999 – Lilith follows the coordinates to the pedestrian walkway beneath the city. A white lily has been placed in front of a forgotten door. Inside the petals, “Peel the petal back.” The lock on the door is the same as her necklace. Lilith uses it and opens the door.
EPISODE05 MAN'S MORAL DECAY

1999 – Callum and his team find the note left by Lilith at Ophelia’s gravestone. “You’re welcome.” with the coordinates.
​
1999 – Lilith finds an empty basin sticking out of a wall. The song “My Prayer” starts to play. Lilith signs along, and water begins flowing into the basin. A click noise sounds, and a light turns on further down the tunnel. Two iron doors wait. The door on the left is labeled “God,” and on the right, “Man.”
​
1999 – An arrow is in the center. Below the arrow, “Who Will Be the Judged?” is etched into the stone. Lilith turns it left. The Door opens to a tomb filled with artificial trees.

1986 – Lilith (15) and Joy experience the last session together. Lilith invites her to a youth art show incorporating her first piece, White Rabbit.
1999 – Inside the Chicago Police Department (CPD), Callum assembles a team to solve the Punch & Judy Murders.

1999 – Lilith moves to examine the back of Joy’s head. She peers inside the hollowed-out skull; bits of Joy’s membrane remain. In the center of the skull, the words “Act V—Scene I” are carved. Emory’s third and last installation process begins by abducting Anita in the night, Lilith’s cousin—a final act to lure Lilith in.

EPISODE03 THE MUSE OF THE MOMENT

1981 – Callum visits Emory (15) in the sunroom. It’s the only time he visits his son. Callum enters to find a gaunt, paranoid version of Emory. Hunched over three large canvases with different versions of labyrinths scrawled throughout.
1999 – Emory returns home after a long night. He packs a bag in his room at Bradford Manor and attempts to leave the house, but Melody already awaits him in the kitchen.
​
1999 – Lilith finds out where the coordinates lead. All the while, her family’s long fuse has run thin. They force her to sit and tell them what is going on.
EPISODE02 THE WALTZ
​
1999 – Emory drags Anita’s unconscious body through a series of darkened tunnels.
1999 – Lilith rushes home and pulls out a register for Rosehill Cemetery and her worn copy of Hamlet. She flips to Act V, Scene I of Hamlet; it’s the moment of Ophelia’s funeral. Lilith opens the register and begins combing through every name in search of Ophelia, praying her instincts are right.
​
1999 – Callum and Sue (his second-in-command and confidant) go for drinks to clear their heads. Sue confesses her speculations that Callum’s son, Emory could be a suspect.
​
1999 – Lilith sneaks back into the cemetery and finds Ophelia’s grave. She discovers a lily petal wedged between the gravestones. On it, in Emory’s hand, are coordinates.
EPISODE06 DUENDE (SERIES FINALE)
​
1999 – Callum and the team set up a perimeter around the tunnel entrance and sent out an official APB (All-points bulletin) declaring Emory Bradford as the lead suspect and stating that he should be detained if found. The Tomb of Trees. Trees made of wood, iron, glass, fabric, shredded canvas, and flowers line every inch of the damp tomb. Emory’s there. They argue, finding themselves in each other’s arms regardless of what Emory’s done. Later, Lilith wakes alone. A note’s been left, “Crack me open to reveal my true potential.” Lilith finds the proper branch to unlock the door.
​
Lilith arrives at the center of the labyrinth. Emory, distracted, gets knocked unconscious. He wakes suddenly when Lilith slides her knife into his ribcage. She tears through his flesh, shoving her hand further around his beating heart. Lilith squeezes, stalling it. Emory’s body twitches. Lilith yanks down the iron ladder into the pond, leaving Emory’s corpse dangling from the wooden beam. She climbs through a hatch located in a water wheelhouse onto a balcony outside. Lilith peers over to the dark waters of Lake Michigan. Flashing lights reflect police boats, Callum at the center. Lilith rubs her thumb across the necklace, then drops to the water.
